It’s been a strange and lovely summer.
I’ve spent most of my summer outdoors, on farms and vineyards. I’ve worked hard and I’ve met a lot of wonderful people along the way.
I’m thankful. Life is good.
But, in the midst of all the summertime joy, there’s a creeping sadness. All around me, people are hurting. Some of my closest friends are going through some very hard times and I feel powerless to help them.
In addition, my sister and her little family are packing up and moving to Minneapolis in September.
(I’m going to miss them more than I can say.)
So, I am trying to soak up the good times, to devote myself to meaningful relationships. I’m trying to enjoy what I’ve got while I can.
It’s a strange combination, all this joy and sadness.
Simply put, it’s bittersweet.
The way one helps a friend dealing with sadness is those random ‘hi thinking of you’ tweets or a phone call to catch up. That is how one helps.
Love your pictures. Love your post. xox
Oh my sweet friend… if I were there I’d come swoop you up to get hot chocolate and something with salted caramel on it for breakfast. All this just means you are embracing life at its unfiltered core. I’ve always felt I want to feel everything life offers but at times it’s not so comfortable.
I love that statement – embracing life at its unfiltered core. Truly.
i’m in a similar spot — at once so happy and very sad at friends’ hardships and tough times . . . we must be grateful for the little things and the love in our life.

Grateful to have such a big hearted big feeling person like you for a friend. Things come back around .
I know the feeling. I’m trying to soak in summer and I’m loving our new house and Austin but I miss my friends and Seattle so so so much. It’ll get better- hope you are enjoying the pretty weather. Your pictures are so so pretty!!
That photo of Nich and Lil’ Omar is amaze-balls (as Mary Crowe would say). I need more Linds in my life…especially before summer bids farewell. Love you!
What a beautiful post, and amazing photos. I feel you. Soak up those good times girl!
